Feeding local families.
FARM-to-FOOD PANTRY
We believe that everyone deserves fresh and healthy food! The Farm-to-Food Pantry program (F2FTP) at Friends of Holly Hill Farm aims to make this happen via teen volunteers who plant, grow, and prepare organic vegetables and herbs for two local food pantries. Last year, we donated over 2,000 pounds of produce to two local food pantries! In 2023 we want to double that number!
Volunteering has so many benefits - for the teens enrolled and for the community as a whole. Teens gain real-world experience, help solve real problems in the community, learn new skills, make new social connections, and expand their perspective too! The program also enables students to fulfill school-mandated community service hours with hands-on work on the farm too. Volunteers participate in every aspect of the project, from seed to harvest.
High school students participate in all seasons of the year, from preparing seeds and building beds to planting seeds - straight through to harvesting, preparing items for the pantries and putting the gardens to bed. Activities include planting, composting, cultivating, harvesting, cleaning and prepping vegetables, and preparing deliveries of organic produce to reach two grateful food pantries.

Caring for conservation land.
Conservation & Stewardship
Registration Required
Friends of Holly Hill Farm and Holly Hill Farm is located along privately-owned, stunning conservation land. This land is not owned by the farm, but has been placed into a conservation trust by the White family. It features diverse habitat for migrating songbirds, hawks and owls, grey and red foxes, fisher cats, and other wildlife.
This land is also home to one of the South Shore's best remaining stands of spring ephemeral wildflowers and other native plants that are disappearing elsewhere in our region. Teens involved in our Conservation & Stewardship Program this program help to remove invasive plants that threaten our land and the wildlife that depend upon it, and to aid in the reintroduction of native plants.
They work in a completely hands-on way to help increase biodiversity in this important refuge. It's hard work, but extremely important and fulfilling especially given the pace of development in our region in recent years. Projects include helping to clear invasive species from the land, planting native plants and using citizen science apps to help protect wildlife, birds and insects.
