Did you know?
The number of Massachusetts households experiencing food insecurity has increased substantially, rising from 19% in 2019 to 40% in 2025. During the same period, rates of very low food security (the most severe form of food insecurity with hunger) have more than quadrupled, growing from 6% in 2019 to 25% in 2025.*
What we're doing to help:
The Farm-to-Food Pantry Program (F2FTP) at Friends of Holly Hill Farm was started in 2012 to grow and donate healthy food for families and individuals facing food insecurity. Today, we grow, harvest, rescue, deliver, and donate thousands of pounds of healthy fresh food, herbs, and flowers from the farm to local food pantries. In 2025, we donated 60% more than we did last year (over 7,300 pounds) to seven local food pantries. In 2026, our goal is to donate 9,000 pounds to nine local food pantries - the most we ever have!
You can be part of the solution too!
We welcome high school students year-round to participate in this critical community program! This hands-on experience includes tasks like making compost, sowing seeds, transplanting, cooking, weeding, cultivating, harvesting, washing, and delivering flowers, vegetables, and herbs.
We welcome adult, organization, and business volunteers as well! Click here to learn more about adult volunteering opportunities.

Why volunteer?
Teens gain real-world experience, help solve real problems in the community, learn new skills, make new social connections, and expand their perspective too! The program also enables students to fulfill school-mandated community service hours with hands-on work on the farm, too. Volunteers participate in every aspect of the project, from seed to harvest.
