Holly Hill Farm has been focused on sustainable growing since our start, and ahead of our time in many ways, having received our first certification as an organic farm by the USDA in 2000. We have continued to meet these strict requirements and have been Certified Organic every year since!
However, growing organically is just one step we take to care for the soil, land, our crops, and the health of our community. We follow regenerative farming practices such as the use of cover crops, no-till techniques, and crop rotation to name a few. By doing so, we help reduce damage to the soil, rebuild healthy soil, increase plant root health, increase the soil’s ability to pull and store carbon from the atmosphere, and help protect the land against erosion.
We take proactive steps in every aspect of how we farm - from seed and soil to harvest - that require more planning, time, and even added costs.
We grow all seasons of the year - in the fields and in our heated greenhouses! Our popular farm stand is open year-round! And, seasonally our community can find us at our local town farmers market, too! We offer our freshly harvested organic vegetables, flowers, herbs and honey. Customers will also find local: farm fresh eggs; fresh baked breads and pastries; cheeses, coffee, teas, cookies and snacks; and a wide array of other delicious and thoughtfully made local products.
For over 20 years we have offered our Annual Organic Plant Sale, featuring organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. The event has grown in size and is now one of the region's largest sales of its kind! In 2024 we grew over 60,000 organic seedlings from seed-to-sale featuring annuals, perennials, vegetables, and flowers!
Holly Hill Farm is located along the historic Quanohassit (indigenous term for long, rocky shore). The farm is located on land farmed since the arrival of European settlers, and no doubt prior to that time, by indigenous peoples and early inhabitants of the area. The land has been in the White family for six generations and is now privately owned, occupied and maintained by three branches of the family who make portions of the land available to the community for visiting at their discretion.
In 1998, Frank and Jean White started an organic farm on approximately 5 acres of their property adjacent to Jerusalem Rd. In 2002 they established the non-profit Friends of Holly Hill Farm which now oversees the farm operation and runs a variety of year-round educational and community activities. Jean White (pictured) remains a daily fixture on the farm, as do other members of the family who you may also happen to see.
We can't wait for a fun-filled night on the farm with you! And, its our most important fundraiser of the year. Help ensure we can keep growing, teaching, caring for the land, and providing this precious natural setting to all.
