Autumn Sessions on the Farm

September 11- November 17, 2023*

Autumn is both the season of bountiful harvest and change on the farm and in the surrounding habitats! The energy of discovering treasures in the fields and boxes, the colors blazing on the trees, the busy work of animals in nature (as well as the farmers) preparing for the winter vibrates through the soil and roots, in the air and water, everywhere young bodies can joyfully observe and explore. It is also a time of constant change and beauty.

Morning and afterschool sessions available!

Sessions meet one day a week for 8-10 weeks!

  • Mornings:  9:00 - 11:30 am (ages 3-5)* - STARTS WEEK OF 9/11/23

Autumn Morning Sessions

September 11 - November 17

September Ages 3-5

Mondays*, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

9:00 am - 11:30 am

For 10 weeks*, beginning September 11, children (ages 3-5) can be a part of this exciting fall energy on the farm!  Not only will they learn about, care, and harvest (and even plant) seasonal vegetables and fruits and what helps them grow into healthy, organic food, they will also explore the connections every garden has with the rest of nature and even ourselves.

Explorations, activities, and experiences may include:

  • Harvest potatoes, the Three Sisters, squashes, and other fall crops
  • Plant garlic
  • Dig deep into the world of compost and soil
  • Play with water and study its cycle and the part it plays in growth and erosion
  • Celebrate the colors of fall and learn about where these colors come from
  • Perform farm chores like watering, weeding, and sifting compost
  • Care for the farm animals and discover the wild ones
  • Explore the seasons
  • Create, play, and experiment

Each age group will be led by 1-2 experienced farm educators through a fluid, yet structured schedule that may include reading a story, hands-on learning, farming, ecological experiences, games, crafts, and more. Of course, there is always room for diversion, allowing educators to follow the children’s interests.

Monday sessions are 9 weeks.  No programs on Monday, October 9, 2023.  Prices reflected.
